From yoga to gardening, our Flawless Care programs nurture the perfection in every child.
We focus on programs that provide education and health care for our local community and beyond. We believe in the resilience of children, their innate desire for health, infinite hope and precious spirit. This is our driving mission.
The Flawless Garden of Miracles Program
Growing, light, the earth, the sun. These natural elements have tremendously and positively affected our Flawless children. We have established three gardens to honor special members of the Flawless community: the Berry Mutton Garden, the Seanog McCarney Garden and the Stacey Sibley Garden.
At first, we started with a small garden tended to by a group of 7- to 9-year-old boys at the Pioneer Special School in Portland. Through the generosity of our donors and corporate partners, this garden has grown to serve many groups of children. It always warms our hearts to watch the boys pulling (and then eating) radishes from the ground, measuring the carrots, or inhaling the healing fragrance of lavender. Their enthusiasm and delight is a testament to the nourishing powers of gardening.
Flawless Girls’ Group
One of our most exciting projects is our work with at-risk adolescent girls, many of whom are living in foster care, and who face many serious challenges, including eating disorders, suicidality, self-mutilation and drug and alcohol abuse.
Two years ago, Janine and Emily, a Flawless intern, launched a coaching program to work on self-esteem and empowerment issues. The weekly sessions focusing on teaching the girls how to celebrate themselves and their progress. One of the core aspects of the program is teaching them about gratitude and about being of service.
Some of our past activities have included yoga and Nia classes, art activities, volunteer activities with younger children, as well as a clothing swap.
Flawless Yoga
We are very pleased with the tremendous response of the children and caregivers engaged in our mindfulness programs. We are fortunate to have a yoga specialist who has created a curriculum for us that serves the children holistically, and with compassion. We also collaborate with Street Yoga, an inspiring organization facilitating the tools for at-risk youth, to create a sense of “home” and peace in their lives. We currently fund four classes for children ranging in age from 5 to 16, and provide yoga classes and wellness workshops for the staff that works with the children. Our current class sites include Pioneers School and ChristieCare.
